George MacDonald Fraser
George MacDonald Frasier (1925-2008) was a British author of historical fiction. He is best known for his Flashman Papers series as well as his McAuslan stories. He was born in England to Scottish parents and was very proud of his Scottish heritage. Fraser served in the Burma Campaign during World War II and then with the Gordon Highlanders in the Middle East and North Africa after the war, which is what he drew upon for his McAuslan stories. Following his service, he started working for the Carlisle Journal where he met his wife, Kathleen. His daughter, Caro Fraser, is also a novelist.
George MacDonald Fraser’s first novel was Flashman, published in 1969. His final novel was a standalone novel, entitled The Reavers, which was published in 2007. Below is a list of George MacDonald Fraser’s books in order of when they were originally published:
