Garth Stein

Garth Stein is the author of the classic book, The Art of Racing in the Rain. That book was a New York Times bestseller and it has since been adapted into a film with Kevin Costner, Milo Ventimiglia, and Amanda Seyfried. Stein was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the Seattle area. He has a diverse ancestry with his mother being of Tlingit Indian and Irish descent, and his father being a child of Jewish emigrants from Austria.
